Shed Kits

If you don't have the time or the talent to build your shed from scratch, then you have the advantage of ordering shed kits. There are many of these kits on today’s market and some of them can be assembled with little or no effort.

You will find that with the kits the windows are completely assembled and have all the hardware and casings attached. The doors are completely assembled and are prehung. They are ready to be placed where you need them. They will even have the holes for locksets drilled and fitted and the locksets will be provided.

The walls of your shed will be framed and attached along with the siding, but this will also depend on the size of your shed. If it is over twelve feet long, then it may be shipped in sections. Usually they are broken into sections where the door or windows are whenever possible. If you decide on gable walls, they will also be provided with the roof peak sections framed separately for attachment to the gable wall during erection.

The floors of your shed will be precut as the sheets of the floor must remain unattached so you can level the floor correctly when you are putting it together. Floors are usually too large to ship, but you will find that the headers are marked to show you the positions they go in.

The roof systems in some kits are designed to use rafters rather than trusses so these can not be pre-assembled. The roof usually depends on how you lay the floor, so it can't be pre-assembled. However, in order to make it as easy as possible, the roof panels may not be pre-cut.

All kits come with detailed instructions to make the job of assembling your shed easy for you. If you are a handy man at heart, then you should have no problem erecting the shed of your dreams. Just because you didn’t build it from scratch won't make the feeling of pride you feel any less when your project is completed.
